Jane
Austen's 229th birthday was celebrated at the Harbor Court Hotel on December
4, 2004. The afternoon included a luncheon at Brightons followed by a
discussion on Fashions of Gentility, 1790-1820, by guest speaker, Beale
Cockey. Beale, a dancer with Choregraphie Antique, Goucher's award-winning
historical dance ensemble, delighted everyone by arriving in a period
gown.
