THREE EVENTS OF INTEREST TO JASNA MEMBERS 1. JASNA Eastern Pennsylvania Region is hosting a one day conference, "Elizabeth Bennet, Delightful Creature", in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 28 at the Sheraton Society Hill Hotel (site of the 2009 AGM). Registration is $95 and covers all talks, lunch and a tote bag. There will be an emporium, book signings, and a walking tour will be available as well. Registration begins February 8th. Actress Harriet Walter, a memorable Fanny Dashwood in the 1995 Sense and Sensibility, will be presenting "Clothed with Words: An Evening with Harriet Walter" at the Bard Graduate Center in Manhattan. She will read selections from Angelou, Austen, Shakespeare, and other writers who have articulated the rich relationships between character, clothing, and culture. The event is presented in conjunction with "Staging Fashion: 1880-1920," an exhibit at the Bard Gallery on costume design for actresses of that period. "Afternoon Tea with Jane Austen", a one-woman show written by and starring Tali Brady, will be at the Red Room Theater, 35 E. 4th (third floor) in Manhattan, from February 24 to March 4th. PODCAST AVAILABLE OF NANCY MAGNUSON'S LECTURE ON BURKE COLLECTION Goucher College Librarian, Nancy Magnuson, was the guest speaker at the fifth annual Jane Austen Birthday Tea at the Omaha Public Library on December 13. Her talk, "A Collector’s Love Story," tells of Alberta and Henry Burke and their travels to build one of the world’s finest library collections devoted to Jane Austen.
