Elections for Regional Coordinator are held every two years in December.

We are delighted that Van Sapp has agreed to be co-coordinator of our region. Van has been devoted to Jane Austen since junior high school. Van had cut a class and hid in the library. The librarian kept giving him a knowing look, so Van casually pulled a book off the shelf and began reading. He was sitting in Section A, the book was Sense and Sensibility, and Van kept reading. He has been a Janeite ever since.

COMMITTEE

Programs are planned by a committee. Anyone who has an idea for a program may submit the idea and participate in planning an event.

Current Committee Members are:

Rena Kelly
Shifra Rubin
Eleanor Welde
Nancy Magnuson

MARYLAND CHAPTER WEB SITE LOGO

Many thanks to Nancy Magnuson and Barbara Simons for creating the original banner quilt that was the inspiration for our new Web site logo.

This banner was originally used at the 1993 AGM at Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada and served as the Maryland chapter's contribution to the decor for the AGM. (as seen in the photo to the right)

The regional banners also served as a backdrop for panel discussions and spokespersons at the AGM. The Maryland banner appears behind panelist and author, Paula Schwartz, in the photo to the lower right (third from the left).

The quilt banner is adorned with two regency period women sitting at a table, surrounded by the official Maryland state flowers, the black-eyed susan. This banner seemed a perfect fit to identify ourselves as Maryland Janeites among our fellow JASNA members.
